Over a century ago, E.W. McGah established the McGah family in Northern California. In the San Francisco bay area, McGah first established himself. He helped co-found the Oakland Raiders football team in 1960, an accomplishment that has made the McGah family famous even today. Only the finest fruit from the family’s 65-acre Rutherford vineyard properties is used to create Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rutherford is a renowned region in Napa Valley for its picturesque terroir and world-class Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The fruit is handpicked each year to maintain the quality of the wine vintage after vintage.

The Peasant & The Pear is a historic landmark in downtown Danville, renowned for its award-winning cuisine and luxurious setting. Serving up dishes that are both classic yet modernized with an edge of rustic elegance.  You’re sure to leave the restaurant feeling full and satisfied!

The menu features dishes like Fisherman Stew with wild prawns, white fish, mussels, calamari, tomato broth, and olive oil croutons. There’s also grass-fed filet mignon served with Lyonnaise potato cake, green beans, and Bourdeaux demi-glace. You can enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine in the bar before dinner. The Danville Farmers’ Market is one of the best places to find delicious fresh produce, quality meats, and seafood at affordable prices. It’s open from early May until October on Saturdays and Wednesday afternoons. Come to the farmers market today for a variety of farm-fresh produce, locally grown fruit and vegetables as well as delicious specialty food items.

Join every week at the market for a variety of events, such as cooking demos, recipe sharing, and master gardener advice on gardening. Additionally, you’ll receive free medical professionals’ wellness examinations.

4. Village Theatre & Art Gallery | 233 Front St, Danville, CA 94526 (925) 3143400

The Village Theatre and Art Gallery is a cultural arts center that presents up to seven rotating exhibitions per year, with an emphasis on Bay Area artists. Theatergoers can enjoy a variety of different shows, from musicals to plays. Additionally, there are art workshops for children and adults alike. Visitors can enjoy an array of arts-based classes, including drama and vocal training in addition to visual or musical theater.

The Village Theatre was constructed in 1873 as a farmer’s lodge and has served as a chapel, grange hall, and movie theater. The Heritage Resource Commission designated the Village Theatre as a historic site, and it is currently a performing arts venue with a fine arts gallery in the lobby. The theater has 245 seats and features a stage, dressing areas, and lighting and sound equipment. A professional art gallery that accommodates exhibitions and receptions was added to the lobby of the Village Theatre in 2009 as part of renovations to the building.

The Rock Church is a community that loves God, equips believers, and reaches out to people. They celebrate each Sunday as a family through worship and hearing Biblical messages. Because they value God’s word, they also put effort into living their lives according to it as well as praying and worshipping together.

Sunday morning services are at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Come to the church! There is a children’s ministry offered at both services.

Community Presbyterian Church is a gospel-centered church that follows Jesus. Their simple statement anchors them and guides everything they do, which includes reaching people with the Good News of Christ’s love through service work done in His name ( Matthew 28:19).

The Creekside Community Church is a welcoming church in Alamo California that services the spiritual needs of Contra Costa County residents.

Parks, Schools & Other Points of Interest in the City of Danville

Hap Magee Ranch Park is a beautiful 17-acre park that has expansive meadows and regional walking trails, historic buildings from around the area to explore as well as an Indian memorial site with some great artwork inside. There’s also this shaded playground area where you can enjoy the water feature while your kids play on it throughout summer. 

What’s not to love about a park that has everything? The Canine Corral is home for your furry friends and provides an off-leash area with lots of fun amenities like the sand volleyball court, ‘Bounty Garden’ where visitors can learn all about organic gardening techniques as well as how they raise produce. The park also has a special gazebo for weddings at the end of the garden.

2. Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site | 1000 Kuss Rd, Danville, CA 94526 (925) 8380249

The Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site is a must-see for any American who has ever enjoyed their favorite play written by this famous and prestigious author. 

The 158-acre ranch in the San Ramon Valley and a house is known as Tao House, where O’Neill spent his last years with his wife. The visitor can explore the park and Tao House on self-guided or ranger-led tours, as well as some other features such as landscaped gardens with significant pathways. There are also historic walking paths that will take you through Black walnut trees in full bloom. Hikers and bike riders alike will be able to enjoy the many trails that wind throughout this park. The grounds also encompass beautiful views of San Ramon Valley, which can easily make for an enjoyable day trip from the surrounding areas.

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is a museum dedicated to preserving, showcasing, and celebrating the region’s history and heritage. The museum’s collections and exhibitions represent the cultures and societies formed by early settlers, the valley’s environment, and its geography. The Southern Pacific Depot in Danville on Railroad Avenue houses the museum, which features collections and displays that reflect the cultures and civilizations developed by the valley’s early settlers, their environment, and their landscapes.

4. Danville Library – Contra Costa County Library | 400 Front St, Danville, CA 94526 (925) 3143750

The Danville Library has an extensive collection of over 72,000 titles that are perfect for every age group. The library also offers six catalog computers and 33 public internet terminals, including an Assistive Technology computer workstation with WiFi access throughout the building and outside on the Town Green. In addition, color printing and Early Literacy Computers pre-loaded with numerous entertaining and educational activities for children aged 2 to 8 are available at the library to help enhance reading skills.

The Library offers a variety of educational programs for people of all ages, including author presentations, story times, performances for children, computer workshops, and a book discussion group. The library is also proud to offer unique services such as books for homebound residents, the Stories-to-Go preschool program (in which volunteers bring stories and crafts to preschools), one-on-one genealogy research assistance (provided in partnership with the San Ramon Valley Genealogical Society), and one of the county’s largest teen advisory boards. In 2013, Danville Library celebrated 100 years of service to the community.

5. Iron Horse Regional Trail | Danville, CA 94526 

One way to experience the thrill of biking is by taking on some rugged trails. One such place in Danville that provides this type of excitement for riders, is called Iron Horse Regional Trail. 

It has been designated as “One Of The Best Outdoor recreations” because it passes through numerous towns along with its former Southern Pacific Railroad line, giving visitors ample opportunity, not just to bike but also to learn about history!
