About the Ulmar Community in Livermore, California

Ulmar is a small community that used to be an unincorporated part of Alameda County, but now it’s been absorbed into Livermore. It lies at 551 feet (168 m) above sea level and has views over the San Francisco Bay Area cityscape.

The Ulmar Community in Livermore is a community that has been around for more than 100 years! Ulmar was originally founded by the Ulmer family, who moved to California from Germany. The Ulmers were farmers and ranchers at heart, but they also had a deep love for their adopted country. When Ulmar was first established, it only encompassed 20 acres of land. But over time, Ulmar grew quickly to cover 300 acres of beautiful property in Livermore Valley. Nowadays, the Ulmar Community offers many amenities including tennis courts, playgrounds, and great schools nearby

The Concannon Vineyard is the second-largest winery in California’s Livermore Valley, producing around 30 thousand cases annually. It specializes primarily in its Petite Sirah and has been making this grape varietal wine since 1961 ( detain before then). Before that time it was blended with other grapes like Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon. The owners of these scenic vineyards are called “The Wine Group.”

2. Hagemann Ranch | 455 Olivina Ave, Livermore, CA 94551 (925) 449-9927

The Hagemann Ranch is one of the earliest established ranches in Northern California, dating back to 1870. It was used for both agricultural pursuits and grazing cattle at its height before being transformed into an orchard with vineyards during 1962.

The Hagemann Ranch Historic District is a reminder of the vernacular ranch buildings that dotted the landscape in Livermore Valley during its golden era.

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Discovery Center is a must-see while in the Livermore Valley. Its goal is to stimulate kids’ interests and curiosity in science by providing hands-on interactive activities, while parents can learn about the important work done at the National Laboratory.

The Discovery Center is open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays throughout the school year and offers Science Field Trips for fifth-graders on weekday mornings.

Living in Ulmar Community

Residents of Ulmar are blessed to live in an area full of nature while also being quite close to city life.  There is never a shortage of coffee shops, parks, to or shopping centers to enjoy within a five-minute drive of Ulmar.
