Lake Del Valle is a storage reservoir in Alameda County, California, located 10 miles southeast of Livermore. Del Valle Regional Park contains it.

The park encompasses over 4,000 acres of wooded land in addition to its expansive and stunning lake. It’s ideal for camping, horseback riding, boating, and other activities.

- Boating and Swimming
Lake Del Valle, fortunately, is very boat-friendly. Bring your own boat (fees apply) or choose from a range of marina hire boats. Choose from a variety of paddle boats, motorboats, and pontoons in the fleet. Boat rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and they fill up fast, so arrive early to reserve your place!
Over the summer months, lifeguards are on duty at two bathing beaches on opposite sides of Lake Del Valle. Visitors are welcome to swim anywhere north of the boat ramp at their own risk all year.
- Take a Lake Tour
We recommend taking a lake tour if this is your first time visiting Lake Del Valle. Del Valle Regional Park’s geological and cultural heritage boat tours take tourists on a journey of discovery. It’s the perfect way to make sure you don’t forget anything if you’re a naturalist! Visitors are welcome to explore the lake by boat with a naturalist team member at certain times of the year. Learn about the lake’s past and biodiversity while taking in the breathtaking views from every angle.
- Go Fishing
The Tri-Valley Area’s Lake Del Valle is a fantastic fishing location. This large lake is teeming with salmon, catfish, bass, panfish, and other species. Spend a day in the great outdoors by throwing a thread. Fishing at Lake Del Valle is one of the easiest places to unwind and appreciate the natural scenery of Livermore. Because of its abundance and accessibility, Lake Del Valle is regarded as an angler’s paradise. The lake is stocked with catfish and trout on a daily basis, but it also has native species including large and smallmouth bass, striped bass, and panfish. Anglers aged 16 and up must buy a District fishing access permit in addition to a valid State fishing license.

There are several rolling hills to enjoy in Del Valle Regional Park, but that’s just the beginning. The Ohlone Wilderness Trail, a 28-mile scenic backcountry trail, has its eastern entrance in the park.
Del Valle Regional Park is home to both beautiful strolls and difficult climbs, with miles of rolling hills, steep ridges, and gorgeous lakeside views. Local pigs, equestrians, mountain bikers, and other adventurers share the trail with you.
Don’t hesitate to carry a picnic basket full of snacks. Following your walk, the park offers a variety of landscaped picnic areas where you can kick back, rest, and take in the scenery and weather.
